TOOTHACHE
A toothache is most often caused when the nerve of the tooth is irritated. There are numerous reasons for a person to experience tooth pain:
- Dental cavities/tooth decay
- Hot or cold air
- Temperature sensitivity/hot or cold liquids or food
- Teeth grinding or clenching
- Orthodontic movement/braces
- Abscessed tooth
- Impacted wisdom teeth
- Pregnancy
- Gingivitis/periodontal disease
- Tooth fracture
- Acid Erosion
- Damaged fillings/crowns
A toothache needs to be differentiated from other sources of pain such as facial pain, sinusitis, ear and throat pain or an injury to the Jaw.
See your dentist as soon as possible to determine the cause of your toothache. The dentist will do a clinical exam and may take Xrays and perform clinical tests to locate the origin of the toothache.
Most people can avoid severe toothache problems with regular check ups to the dentist and good dental Care.
