Veneers
In dentistry veneers are used to mask the imperfections of a tooth or teeth.
A veneer is an extremely thin piece of porcelain which is custom made to
fit over the tooth to improve the aesthetics of a smile.
Veneers are a less intrusive option than crowns or braces of course
sometimes, crowns or braces may be the only choice which will benefits
certain patients in different circumstances.
However, veneers can be placed to close gaps in the teeth or correct
minor misalignments. Veneers are also chosen by patients purely for
aesthetic purposes such as to enhance the brightness of their smile, to
straighten their teeth or for repairing matters like, discolouration,
fractures or chips in the teeth.
Veneers are matched to the colour of the other teeth making them hardly
noticeable. They are held in place using bonding agents which helps the
veneers stick directly to the tooth’s enamel surface, making the
porcelain veneer even stronger.
Although the tooth requiring the veneer does not need a lot of invasive
preparation you should speak to your dentist about whether or not
veneers are the best option for you and your teeth.
