MOUTHGUARDS

A mouthguard, custom fitted by your dentist can reduce the risk of dental injuries. Sport, leisure and recreation activities are the most common cause of dental injuries. A mouthguard  should be worn every time you play sport or train so your teeth are protected against dental injuries.

Common dental injuries include:

  • Cut Lips
  • Cut gums and cheek
  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Knocked out teeth
  • Broken Jaw

Dentists recommend custom fitted mouthguards as they provide the best protection due to their close fit, comfort and cushioning effect.

Caring for your mouthguard  includes:

  • Rinsing the mouthguard in warm soapy water (not hot).Air dry only.
  • Keep the mouthguard in a well ventilated box when not in use
  • Do not leave the mouthguard in direct sunlight or in a closed car as heat can damage it.
  • Ask your dentist to inspect your mouthguard at every dental check up.
